देव का जन्म इटालिक (उ. प्र) में सन् 1673 में हुआ था।
उनका पुरा नाम देवदत्त द्विवेदी था। देव के अनेक आश्रयदाताओ में औरंगजेब के पुत्र आजमशाह भी थे परंतु
देव को सबसे अधिक संतोष और समान उसकी कविता

Title of the story "A letter to God " by G.l fluent is aptly justified . In these story the protagonist; lencho writies a letter to God for help. As expected by him; he receives financial help from God. However he finds 30 pesos less than request by him. He suspects the postal department has taken out the money from his parcel. So; he writes another letter to God.
Since the story deal with the theme of lencho writing letters to God; the title is perfect .
